Valdgale ist ein Dorf im Landkreis Talsi. Es liegt ca. 4,5 km von dem Kreisstädtchen Talsi und 122 km von Riga entfernt.

Die Siedlung entstand in der Nähe des Zentrums des ehemaligen Gutshofs Valdgale (Waldegahlen). Der Gutshof Valdgale wurde erstmals 1390 urkundlich erwähnt, als ein gewisser Siegfried Nuenus einen Teil davon erbte, kaufte oder so!.

Bis in die 1960er Jahre war Valdgale der Knotenpunkt des Schmalspurbahnnetzes von Nordkurland, wo die Linien in alle Himmelsrichtungen und Dörfer und Städte abzweigten, aber auch das ist schon lange her.

In der Valdgale-Mühle können Sie echte italienische Gastfreundschaft erleben, die vom Eigentümer der Einrichtung, Giuseppe, garantiert wird, wenn er in Lettland weilt. Auf alle Fälle vorher anrufen oder bei Talsi-Visit (+371 26469057) anfragen.

In Valdgale gibt es aktive Unternehmer, große und kleine. Hier werden Preiselbeeren angebaut und Torf gewonnen, Imker leben in der Nähe und es riecht nach frischem Wachs, wenn es den Frühling – und dann weiter – wird! Bei dem heutigen Wetter war es nicht mehr als eine kurze Stippvisite

Valdgale is a village in the Talsi district. It is located about 4.5 km from the county town of Talsi and 122 km from Riga.

The settlement was established near the centre of the former Valdgale manor ( Waldegahlen ). The Valdgale manor was first mentioned in documents in 1390, when a certain Siegfried Nuenus inherited, bought or so! a part of it. Until the 1960s, Valdgale was the junction of the North Kurland narrow-gauge railway network , where lines branched off to all points of the compass and villages and towns, but that was also a long time ago. The Valdgale manor with park and the Valdgale windmill are state-protected cultural monuments. At Valdgale Mill you can experience genuine Italian hospitality, guaranteed by the owner of the establishment, Giuseppe, when he is in Latvia. Be sure to call ahead or enquire at Talsi-Visit (+371 26469057). There are active entrepreneurs in Valdgale, big and small. Cranberries are grown and peat is extracted here, beekeepers live nearby and there is the smell of fresh wax as spring - and then on! With the weather today, it was nothing more than a short flying visit!
